As per the Business Research Company report, “The global sanitary paper product manufacturing market is expected to grow from $65.8 billion in 2019 to about $107.9 billion in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in an increase in demand for paper products as people are increasingly preferring disposable paper products to curb the spread of viral infection.”, Napco National Flexible Packaging (NFP) Division has put in place an agile crisis management plan allowing its manufacturing plants to meet the rising market demands for the hygiene and tissue products during the pandemic.

As part of the emergency plan, a 24-hour crisis and response team was mobilized to coordinate a multiple set of actions related to all logistical requirements, issues and government regulations with the operation. In parallel, a communication team launched a multichannel multilingual internal campaign to raise awareness of COVID-19 among employees and educate them about ways to prevent its spread and stay healthy.

To preserve the health and well-being of employees and reduce their exposure to COVID-19, the workforce was reduced to the strict minimum and moved to a controlled accommodation while providing them with all their needs from food, healthcare, and transportation. All clerical and office-based employees were equipped with necessary technological needs to work from home so that normal operations are not disrupted.

To minimize congestion in the plants and still ensure a 100% productivity, several satellite packing plants were created to enable employees to work within health standards and regulations. Even during lockdown, on-site camps with all logistic requirements to accommodate more than 600 employees and fully operate one full month were created in less than 18 hours where most of the manufacturing sites in the 2nd industrial city were down.

Napco National, in agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health, created its own quarantine building with health practitioners and doctors to limit the introduction of the virus and prevent its spread.

NFP was able to meet market demands without interruption in the production line and without disruption of supply and a 100% On Time-In Full (OTIF) and market share growth. “All of this couldn’t have been done without the hard-word, commitment, and step-up of Napco National’s employees amid COVID-19 to serve the community and secure production”, explained Mr. Marwan Frem, President of the Napco Flexible Packaging Division. “I would like to thank them for their commitment and for thoroughly following health and safety measures and for abiding by security policy”, he added.
