Dammam, Saudi Arabia, October 12, 2017 — (Napco National News Network) – Napco National will showcase a range of sustainable packaging solutions at Gulfood Manufacturing 2017 trade show in Dubai, UAE, in line with growing Middle Eastern demand for flexible packaging and concern for sustainability.

Processed food, beverage, and dairy manufacturers, as well as foodservice distributors, will find Napco National in Hall 3, Booth #A3-20 at Dubai World Trade Center from 31 October to 2 November. Gulfood Manufacturing is the region’s largest food and beverage processing exhibition.

Meeting Demand for Flexible Packaging

Through the end of this decade, demand for packaging in the Middle East and North Africa will grow at 5% to 7%, compared to the global average of 4%.1 The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies (PPMI) reports that flexible packaging, in particular, is increasingly preferred over other packaging materials because of “recyclability, affordability, light weight, and growth in packaged foods overall.”2

Based in Saudi Arabia, Napco National manufacturing plants in Dammam and Jeddah produce a wide selection of paper and plastic flexible packaging, from lidding and labels to laminated films, pouches, sachets, wrappers, bags and sheets. The company supplies manufacturers of baked goods, beverages, condiments, confectionery, dairy, dry foods, fresh produce, ice cream, meat and poultry, pasta, and snacks, among others.

Meeting Corporate Sustainability Targets

Sustainability ranks within the top 10 disruptive forces on the packaging industry through 2027, according to Smithers Pira, an authority on global packaging supply chains.3

Napco National is partnering closely with food and beverage producers who, while responding to end-consumer demands, are driving the paradigm shift to use more responsible and fewer raw materials via sustainable sourcing and innovative packaging design.

Sarkis Dagher, Vice President of Market Development at Napco National, explains, “Designing packaging to consume less raw materials means generating less packaging waste by both the food manufacturer and the end consumer. We’re downgauging specific applications, such as aluminium in bouillon wrap and peel foil lidding by up to 42% and plain and metallized OPP from 11% to 33% – all with superior performance and positive environmental impact.”

Collecting & Recycling Industrial Films

In addition, Napco National partners with beverage manufacturer customers to collect and recycle post-industrial stretch and shrink film. These films are regenerated into recycled resins for other applications at the company’s waste recycling and reprocessing center in Jeddah. Napco National intends to continue expanding its waste collection and recycling operations in the Kingdom.
